Do you like my monkey?
Touch him, pet him, stroke him, Liebe meinen Affen-monkey!
Sorry I went a bit Dieter there, but the monkey is done! I have no fear that the intended recipient (mommy dearest) will see it since she does not read my blog! As promised below are a couple pictures.
As I feared, his is a face only a mother could love. Hopefully, this particular mother will love him. He kind of has one leg that’s too short and the body’s all wonky. He rather resembles a zombie monkey which is pretty cool actually. Anyway, as long as he looks like a monkey, I am happy. I did try to use a pattern, but crochet patterns only confuse me, so I winged it. You can tell, can’t you?
Third Project Complete!
It only took several weeks! It only took so long because I am the queen of procrastination. I finished it yesterday, and I am so proud of me! It will be the first garment I’ve made that I will actually wear outside of my home. I will be posting pictures later. The dress is a little tight around the arms (a problem I seem to have had now with both dresses I’ve made) and tends to bunch a little at the waist. I’m sure there’s a myriad other things wrong with it, but I don’t care! I will wear it proudly, because it looks cute on me (I love the print!). When I look at the pictures my husband took, the dress doesn’t look handmade! Ok, I will stop gushing now. I do not wish to set anyone up for disappointment.
I am still working on the amigurumi monkey for my mom. I only have 2 days to finish it. Unfortunately, it is terribly ugly and may have to unravel the head and start all over there. OR! I can jut leave it as is and pretend I’m only five and giving my mom a card made from construction paper, glue and macaroni. I will take pictures of the finished project soon (hopefully tonight now that the dress is done!).
A Catchall
I haven’t really been posting lately because I have nothing that I want to take pictures of WIP nor have I written much more for Shawna Bell. I have been working on a crochet (amigurumi) monkey by request. I found a free pattern that was originally posted on JoAnn Fabrics’ website, but isn’t up now. I found it on a Google search. Anyway, I am having a terrible time reading the pattern. I get to about row 3 or 4 and then it loses me. I am at least understanding that I have to increase up to a point and then stitch evenly for the arms, legs, and tails. I kind of messed up on the tail because I didn’t increase on the 4th row. I finally bough fiberfill, but it’s still in the car. The heat has made me very lazy. Thankfully, it has been cooling down enough that I feel more motivated to do stuff. Maybe I’ll hem my dress in the next few days and finally post pictures here.
I gave the finished baby blanket to the happy momma to be on Saturday. It was a big hit with everyone (I think!). I will be working on another one fairly soon since I heard that another friend is also expecting.
I also just started the next book in the Retrievers Series by Laura Anne Gilman, Bring it On. I had to wait for the only copy of this installment in all of the Sno-Isle library system to be returned before I could read it. I’m about half way through. So far Wren is working out just the way I like her. I still feel like I only just started, so we shall soon see where this takes me.
Creepy Cute
I want this book:

I have yet to attempt an Amigurumi doll, but hopefully I can get an army of ninjas done by September when I go visit my family. I have a niece and nephew, not to mention a brother and sister-in-law that would love these. When I showed my husband he wanted a ninja of his own. Darn budgets! They’re always getting in the way!
